YOU CAN BENEFIT FROM THESE POPULAR TREATMENTS!

Infertility

treatment1Infertility problems are usually diagnosed after a couple has been unsuccessful after a year of trying to get pregnant.

For women with a healthy male partner, a series of acupuncture treatments is generally required. Usually, treatments spanning a minimum period of three months, (3 menstrual cycles) would be needed in order to regulate the reproductive system. Depending on individual health conditions, a longer period of therapy may be necessary.

Common diagnoses treated include endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, blocked fallopian tube(s), fibroids, irregular menstruation, anovulation and even unexplained infertility.

Because male fertility problems are actually on the rise, a growing number of men are also turning to acupuncture for help. Here too, depending upon the case, treatments would be administered at regular intervals for a period of 3 to 6 months. Acupuncture can increase sperm count and improve sperm quality and motility.

Acupuncture is mind-body medicine, and, in this co-creational healing experience, we review and evaluate diet, physical activity, workplace satisfaction, relationship harmony, stress levels and emotional life.

What I have to share in terms of recommendations are based on the rich and time-tested tradition of Chinese medicine. Nutritional guidelines are tailored to rectify individual imbalances.I encourage my patients to adopt stress reduction techniques through the self- healing practice of QiGong and mindfulness meditation-which I taught for over 10 years.  I also seek to empower my patients with ‘do it yourself’ acupressure techniques that enhance the effects of acupuncture.

PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome)

450 copyAccording to the International Association for the Study of Pain, 40-90% of women experience dysmenorrhea (painful periods).  A study released in 2008, recommends acupuncture as an effective means of pain control.  Acupuncture provides relief for cramping,  nervous and emotional tension, mood swings , migraines and more.

Menopause Management

Facial Rejuvenation

Woman Receiving An Acupuncture Needle TherapyFacial Rejuvenation with acupuncture is a series of acupuncture treatments designed to give noticeable and long lasting results without resorting to fillers, bo-tox or surgery.   Fine, high quality needles are used to stimulate circulation and increase collagen production on the face.

While not as dramatic a result as a surgical facelift,  facial rejuvenation provides my patients with a radiant, younger look without any risks or side effects.

Beauty at a deeper level

These treatments also address the many underlying health issues including stress, emotional strain and chronic pain that are eventually reflected upon the face we show the world . Acupuncture is all about feeling good from the inside out.

Seasonal Tune-ups

Woman looking at thermometer. Staying at home sick. This acupuncture treatment will strengthen your immune system to help prevent the common cold, flu and allergies. This treatment will also increase your overall energy.

Fall, as it moves into winter and winter, as it moves into spring are 2 intervals that often create the greatest demand on our systems.  Acupuncture during these times fortifies our resistance, helps us adjust and eases the period of transition as the seasons change.

When is the best time to receive tune-up treatments?. The end of October to mid November/ End of February to mid March. Usually one or 2 treatments are needed - depending on your state of health.

Allergies

allergiesWhether your allergies are seasonal, year round, whether you are allergic to dust, pollen, ragweed or animals, acupuncture may be able to ease or eradicate your symptoms entirely.

A series of acupuncture treatments can restore the functionality of your immune system and can free you from the side effects of over-the-counter allergy medications or from the relentless schedule necessary for desensitization injections.

Acupuncture not only treats the underlying reason as to why you are allergic, it also provides quick relief for the itchy, watery eyes and the sneezing and congested or runny nose that you may be experiencing at the time of your treatment.

Acupuncture also alleviates the sinus pain, congestion and infection so often accompanying allergic reactions.

This is probably the treatment I help people with most often and when you consult me for allergies, I make dietary and lifestyle suggestions when necessary.

Stress

stress freeAcupuncture can reduce stress.  Acupuncture calms the nervous system by regulating that 'fight or flight' response activity in the brain.  Studies have shown that chemicals such as cortisol, which are present in the blood in response to stress, decrease after acupuncture.  Isn't that amazing? Moreover, acupuncture stimulates the release of oxytocin, a hormone that activates the parasympathetic nervous system,  otherwise known as the 'rest and digest system',paving the way to a state of serenity, bliss and optimal health!

Migraines and Headaches

Troubled man portraitAcupuncture is a safe and effective treatment for many types of headaches because it can reduce inflammation, calm nervous tension, balance hormone levels and restore proper circulation to the head. Acupuncture often provides immediate relief for a headache in progress without any of the side effects associated with medication.

Regardless of which type of headache you suffer from, it can be eliminated or reduced in intensity and frequency quite easily with acupuncture. The WHO highly recommends acupuncture for headache pain.

sciatica_auwdaLow Back Pain

Low back pain or lumbago refers to pain experienced in the lumbar region of the back. More than 80% of the population suffers from low back pain at one time or another. Low back pain most often occurs in people between 30 and 60 years old but can affect anyone at any age.

Symptoms of low back pain

Severe pain in the lumbar area after activity, sudden movement, or heavy lifting. The lumbar area is the part of the back where the 5 lumbar vertebrae are situated.  See illustration:

3 categories of low back pain

Acute low back pain  is characterized by intense lumbar pain lasting less than a month yet often necessitating leave from work. Acute low back pain, in 90% of the cases,  will resolve on its own in less than 4 weeks.

Sub acute low back pain: Persistent pain in the lumbar region lasting beyond 4 weeks and up to 3 months. Because of its potential to become chronic, sub acute low back pain needs to be investigated and tended to.

Chronic low back pain: Constant pain for more than three months.  Appropriate mesures need to be taken to resolve this pain.  Approximately 5-8% of low back pain becomes chronic.

Low back pain can be a complex medical condition and treating it by conventional means alone is rarely effective. A global approach, including acupuncture is highly recommended for low back pain, especially if it has gotten to the chronic stage.

The WHO, (World Health Organization) recommends acupuncture for the successful treatment of low back pain or lumbago and this is a condition that I have often successfully treated at Acupuncture Mont-Tremblant.   In one recent case , I helped a 70 year young, very fit man who complained of acute, intense low back pain following heavy lifting 3 days earlier.  After lying comfortably for 30 minutes with a few needles in his hand and leg, he reported a 60 % improvement.  He called me the next morning to report a 100% recovery.
