What IS Acupuncture ...Does it hurt?

Acupuncture involves the careful insertion of fine, sterile, single use needles at specific points on the body in order to promote health and/or to relieve pain.

These points, called acupuncture points are located along energy pathways known as meridians.

The acupuncturist, having chosen the appropriate points, can then manipulate the needles to affect the flow of energy (or Qi) in the meridian.

Since in Traditional Chinese Medicine illness and pain are the result of Qi  blockages or imbalances, acupuncture is a powerful yet subtle means of restoring the smooth flow of Qi and positively influencing one’s health.

Acupuncture is a holistic practice, meaning that it treats each patient as a whole, taking into account individual lifestyles and constitutional tendencies. This explains why you may be successfully treated for migraine headaches yet also notice that your sleep has improved.

Acupuncture is painless and treatments are not only a way to resolve your health concerns but they can be as relaxing as a massage.

In Quebec acupuncture is regulated by a professional order-L'Ordre des Acupuncteurs du Québec.
